- When developing a website there are 4 factors which should be taken into account:

Design - To begin with you must decide in general terms-what sort of visual look suits your business.

Performance - More objects means a slower page no matter how small the page.

Security - In a web operation security can be a complicated proportion.

Usability - Visitors should be able to navigate every part of your site comfortably.

- Decide what you would like to achieve online.
This could be one or more of the following:
Corporate presence
Marketing/advertising
Initiating sales?
Direct sales
Customer feedback
Research
Recruitment
Internal administration/communication
Training

- At Intershoppe we use a 3 phase plan when developing a website.

- PHASE 1-Web Presence
This phase is a very simple and basic phase which begins by registering a domain name for the website.Once this is complete we create a static website with the neccessary company information and contact details giving the company a web presence.

- PHASE 2-Web Catalogue
Creating a Web Catalogue is very important for any company wishing to be on the internet. In this phase the look and feel of the website is created building on phase 1 of the initial website. Here we list the various products that the company wishes to advertise and gives the visitor an idea of what the company is selling and/or manufacturing. Most companies are quite satisfied by having a website with the above two phases.

- PHASE 3- E-Commerce
The next step is to transform the website created in phase1 and phase2 into an online store where customers can buy your products over the internet using their credit cards. This is made possible by securing the website so that the customers information remains confidential at all times. Today quite a number of companies have already become e-commerce enabled.
